Elizabeth Slack-Joles

I am originally from Carthage, and I still have two sisters who reside there. We all have enjoyed living in the North Country and have been lucky to have such a close-knit family. I graduated from Carthage High School in 1984 then attended Saint Lawrence University and graduated with a degree in math and philosophy with a minor in education. I also got my master’s degree in Math Education from SUNY Potsdam in 1992, and a CAS in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego in 2004. I taught high school mathematics for 36 years at Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, Watertown High School, Carthage High School, and Thousand Islands High School, with twenty-one years of my career in Carthage where I retired in 2021.
I am new to real estate, but I feel that my experiences working for various school districts has given me knowledge about a variety of communities in our area. I have been extremely interested in real estate sales since buying my first house in 1999. I always thought I would have fun finding people their perfect home and helping others transition out of their current home, but I wanted to be able to dedicate my full attention to it. With my teaching job and two young children, it was never a possibility. Last year, when I decided to finally retire from teaching, I immediately began studying to pursue a career in real estate. I am super excited to do something that I have dreamt about for 25 or 30 years. Over the course of my career, I have taught over four thousand students, and now I look forward to assisting many of them in finding the home of their dreams.
I have been married for 22 years to my husband, Tom, who also teaches. We have two beautiful children aged 10 and 14. Our family lives in the city of Watertown and we enjoy being involved in our community. We are members of the Holy Family Parish, and we are also on the board of directors for the Watertown YMCA Blue Sharks swim team. In my free time, I enjoy going to the YMCA to swim and play pickleball, I like to play golf, and in the summer months my family absolutely loves to go camping. I spend rest of my time attending my children’s school activities and athletic events. Nothing gives me more joy than watching them grow and achieve.
